Hi, I am Dr Chan Tat Hon.
Welcome to my personal website and blog
Some people call me 'Doc'
Some call me 'Teacher'
Some call me 'Chef'
Whilst others call me 'Coach'
I am an adventurer and in the 20 plus years since I graduated from medical school I've been on many interesting journeys, many of which I am sharing in my blog here.
In this current season, Practising, Teaching, Coaching, 'Preaching' Lifestyle as Medicine is my passion. My calling and purpose is to help people unlock the power of lifestyle for a longer healthier life and to help them jumpstart their journeys of unlocking the power of a healthy lifestyle to 'disease-proof' themselves and most of all their loved ones.
I am a medical doctor and I run a Medical Clinic that emphasizes the use of lifestyle as medicine where I prescribe lifestyle modifications as medicine, coaching patients through dietary modifications & exercise programmes to manage lifestyle related diseases such as diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, cholesterol disorders and body weight issues.
And over time, I found that I needed to do more to help people better understand and appreciate the power of lifestyle for better health, 'ENGINES of HEALTH' is a framework that I've developed to help me do that, it is a medical science evidence-based framework to help people learn and jumpstart their journeys of unlocking the power of a healthy lifestyle for a longer healthier life for themselves and their families. Conducting Engines of Health talks, seminars and programmes for individuals and groups has become almost a full-time job for me in this season of my life.
Whatever other free time left that I can squeeze out, I would usually be found 'preaching' and teaching the power of lifestyle as medicine at conferences, churches, companies, organisations and events that I get invited to.
Some years back, I accidentally started a restaurant The Bento People and was even the full-time chef there for a season. Although I am no longer involved in the day to day running of the restaurant, I am still hands on in designing and creating dishes for the restaurant's menu and wherever possible use that as an opportunity to engage my customers to encourage them towards a lifestyle of healthy eating.
All my crazy adventures would not have been possible if not for the unflinching support from my long-suffering wife, You can read my blog post >> 'Behind every adventurous man is a long-suffering wife' if you are keen to read my story about my wife has been supporting my crazy adventures all these years and how grateful I am for that.
